The Augusta VA Medical Center was awarded the 2006 Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Trophy Award. The award, which is sponsored by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, recognizes organizations within VA that have implemented management approaches that result in sustained high levels of performance and service to the veterans we serve.
The VA Southeast Network (VISN 7) was the recipient of the 2006 Secretary's Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award for Achievement. The Achievement Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate effective, systematic approaches to management with positive trends and performance levels in key areas of importance. Reaching this level of recognition is an outstanding accomplishment and places VISN 7 among the elite organizations that have gone on to reach the highest levels of excellence. This recognition is in addition to VISN 7's recent identification as a winner of the Kizer Quality Achievement Recognition Grant, 2006-2007, for exemplary commitment to continuous quality improvement.
The award is named in memory of Robert W. Carey, a publicly recognized VA quality leader and a champion for excellence in the federal government. The award criteria are aligned with the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. These criteria are nationally recognized as a framework and standard for organizational excellence.
"I want to thank everyone for the hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence that has enabled us to receive this recognition. I am proud of your accomplishments and successes. Most importantly, our work has made a difference in enhancing the care and service to veterans." stated Thomas A. Cappello, FACHE, Acting Network Director, VA Southeast Network (VISN 7).
